Venus/Pluto/Capricorn: Iron Fist in Velvet Glove

Today, retrograde Venus conjuncts Pluto in Capricorn, and I read a post about it earlier that sprinkled this aspect with fairy dust and “light”. I felt compelled to share some insight from experience with this aspect in my natal chart as well as astrology in general.

Any aspect to/with Pluto packs a punch. Also, it’s energy is feminine and dual in nature in that it reflects both the instinct to birth as well as destroy, and they are intimately linked and woven into our underlying instinct for survival as humans. Where Pluto is in your chart is where your powerhouse lies- your creator/destroyer power. It burns there; in shadow. It’s where you’ve experienced the hand of fate in your life.

Pluto can be intrusive and ruthless, and is often experienced within and without as circumstances in which we’ve been destroyer and also destroyed, ruthlessly. Simultaneously, Pluto energy is transformative and grants considerable endurance and willpower to burn away the old and rebirth anew.

In Greek myth, Pluto is represented by Hades, and when Venus meets Pluto, we become intimately connected to the myth of Persephone and her abduction into the underworld by Hades in this old story of feminine initiation.

Essentially, the story conveys through amplification the transition from girl to woman. Ironically, it’s described in the myth as abduction and rape, and this is what this energy can feel like as it hits what we value, for better or worse.

Some examples of Venus/pluto energy manifesting in real life include:

Mean girls

Prostitution

Incest

Rape

Pornography

Soulmates

Power of love vs. Power in Love

Manipulation in love

S&M

Big Business

Intense charm

Seduction

Power struggles

Transformational Love

I think you get the General idea.

Now I’ve said all of that to say this — retrograde Venus conjunct Pluto in Capricorn is an opportunity to reassess by looking at where and how we’re really showing up, without the rose colored glasses. Stare the truth in the face, no matter how hard it hits your ego- Pluto doesn’t give two shits about your ego, and I guarantee that this energy can help correct where you went off course.

If you don’t know where to look, start with your projections; who’s really pissed you off lately and why? Ask yourself, what role did YOU have to play? No enabling.

Why are you really struggling with money?

Why did that relationship really not work out?

What is your role? We all have one, no one is without shadow or sin (Capricorn/saturn).

If you heed this advice and use this energy wisely, when Venus turns direct in Capricorn and hits Pluto once more in forward motion, she’ll come around with the gift of renewed, solid value and lasting sense of something real and worthy — a gift that could stand the test of time.

Where is the Venus/Pluto conjunction happening in your chart?
